When I was a child, I believed you could catch the moon.
Just in a small jar, with the lid screwed on tight.
Maybe I could keep her there,
and finally see the side that always remained hidden.
I wondered:
if I gently shook the jar,
would she shine more brightly?
Now I know that isnโt possible.
Some things cannot be captured.
What I do know now, and didnโt know then,
is that hiding your emotions
dims your inner light.
As if you locked away your own moon
in a jar with the lid screwed on too tightly.
In my imagination, I slowly unscrew the lidโฆ
and let the light breathe again.
